Portuguese side Sporting are about to make an offer for Brighton & Hove Albion fullback Tariq Lamptey, according to reports today.
It had been a while since the Lisbon media started reporting this chase, and it’s now the press from Ghana who reveals the bid.
Outlet Sports World Ghana features an exclusive story saying Sporting are ready to ‘splash the cash’ by offering between €8m and €10m for the Brighton player.
It’s said Lamptey has been ‘closely monitored’ by the Lions and ended up being identified as a ‘perfect fit’ for their squad this summer.
As Portuguese outlet Record covers the news from Ghana, they actually come up to confirm that the fullback is a target for Sporting this summer.
There’s just no information on whether Brighton would be keen on accepting that offer for the player.
Lamptey, who has a contract with Brighton running until 2025, is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €12m.
Prior to his knee injury last season, he had made 26 appearances for the Seagulls, so he may also need a reason to leave the Premier League for Portugal.
