Colombian side Junior from Barranquilla have been handed a Christmas present from Liverpool, thanks to the deal for Luis Diaz.
That’s according to Caracol Radio and journalist Marcelo Bee Sellares, who cover how Junior have secured themselves solidarity payments on the Liverpool star.
They explain that Junior are set to ‘receive a millionaire sum of money’ thanks to the deal between Porto and Liverpool for Diaz in January last year.
The Colombian club had previously filed a lawsuit with FIFA with the aim of receiving a share in the signing of Diaz via solidarity mechanisms and intermediaries.
They finally won the lawsuit earlier this year and will now receive various amounts of money for 2024, with Sellares detailing that on social media.
According to his information, Junior will receive €8,009,794 from the €45m deal, which is broken into various payments. The first instalment is worth €2,550,000 and followed by two separate payments of €1,019,897.
There will then be three payments of €1,140,000 to reach the total €8,009,794 payment that FIFA have determined they are owed.
That is an extremely important figure for the Colombian side, who are hoping to put together a team that can compete on multiple fronts with the money they’re earning from the Liverpool star’s move.
