Brighton & Hove Albion have received encouragement in their pursuit of Sassuolo’s  Davide Frattesi, according to Calciomercato.

The Seagulls tried signing the midfielder in January as Roberto De Zerbi was keen to have him at his disposal at The Amex.

A failure in the winter market has not put off Brighton. Last month, Gazzetta dello Sport stated the Premier League side have been courting the 23-year-old for some time.

It was also explained De Zerbi’s side will provide competition to Juventus to sign the Italy international in the next window.

A latest report from Calciomercato states Frattesi feels ready to make the big jump and ‘will leave’ the Serie A side after this season.

Sassuolo are aware of the player’s desire and therefore, have set the fixed price of €30m to let go of him in the summer. A clear message is sent to Frattesi’s suitors that includes Brighton and Juventus.

Meanwhile, TuttoMercatoWeb quizzed Sassuolo chief Giovanni Carnevali about the reports linking Frattesi to Juve and AS Roma.

“To date, the market period has fortunately not yet opened. A complicated period for us ended in January, because every time the transfer market is open, Sassuolo always have a bit of difficulty,” he said.

“This is because – also fortunately – we always have players who are requested by important clubs and maybe even on the part of the player in question there can be a little more confusion and this can penalise us.

“We know that Frattesi can have important requests, as happened in the summer. It’s true that Roma got very close to the boy, among other things we have an excellent relationship with the Giallorossi club, also considering the operations we carried out at the time such as Marchizza, Pellegrini and Politano.

“I think he is a player who can also aspire to a top-level foreign league. I have no doubts that this summer there will be valuable negotiations for the boy.”

Brighton are among Frattesi’s suitors outside Italy and when Carnevali was asked if there was an approach from abroad for him in January, he explained: “There was something, but we blocked any in the bud  negotiation for Frattesi, because the objective of the sale for us had become Traore. This is due to the simple fact that we already had his replacement at home, namely Lauriente.”
