Fulham owner Tony Khan apologised after his side suffered a 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Monday and admitted the Cottagers have been trying to bring in a new centre-back, something they’ve so far failed to do.

Sampdoria’s Omar Colley has been identified as one of the targets by Fulham, and three days ago, SportItalia journalist Gianluigi Longar reported they have held ‘meetings’ for transfer.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Scott Parker’s side have made a ‘first offer’ for the Gambia international.

It’s claimed the Premier League club proposed an ‘onerous loan with the right of redemption’ to sign the centre-back.

However, the Serie A side said ‘no’ to Fulham’s ‘first offer’ and they would only consider allowing the 27-year-old to leave on a permanent transfer.

The player’s current deal with Claudio Ranieri’s side runs until 2022 and the website doesn’t mention the fee required to convince Sampdoria to sanction his sale.

TMW adds the talks, most likely between the two clubs, ‘go on’ as Fulham and the Italian side ‘continue to negotiate’ for Colley’s transfer.
