The future of Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a big talking point during the summer transfer window.
The Swedish star took his time to make the decision to sign for Manchester United, after his departure from Paris-Saint Germain.
Paris-Saint Germain’s director of football Patrick Kluivert has been speaking to the French media (via Le 10 Sport) about Ibrahimovic’s departure.
Kluivert believes the Ligue 1 club evolved around Ibrahimovic, but it was a natural ‘end of cycle’.
He said: “Zlatan was a certain age, and this team, which revolved around him, was coming to the end of a cycle.”
Kluivert revealed Paris-Saint Germain were preparing for Ibrahimovic’s departure for a ‘long time’.
He added: “Unless you bring Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or Neymar, we had to put something else in place. We had to prepare the departure of Ibra for a long time, not two months before.”
