At this point, it seems that only a miracle will get Romelu Lukaku out of Chelsea, with a move to Juventus difficult to come by.
It’s been widely covered, and yet, Corriere dello Sport, in a report looking at the various possibilities for the Belgian, give everyone a glimmer of hope.
They explain that while there is a slim chance that AS Roma could tweak their books favourable to allow the arrival of the Chelsea striker, it remains very difficult.
However, ‘there is no confirmation’ that a move will be made for Lukaku, regardless of José Mourinho’s affinity for the player, having managed him at Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford in the past.
‘The only certain thing’, according to Corriere, at this stage, is that Juventus ‘reopened talks yesterday’ with Chelsea, with it clear they ‘have not yet abandoned’ the idea of signing the Belgium international, clearly a dream of Cristiano Giuntoli and Max Allegri, before the end of the transfer window.
There’s been a lot of talk about a deal involving Dusan Vlahovic going the other way, but that isn’t really mentioned here.
It remains the most logical outcome, especially with Chelsea desperately needing a striker in their squad that Mauricio Pochettino wants to use, and we’ll have to wait and see what develops in the next nine days, before the transfer window shuts.
