Towards the end of last month, we covered claims made by Gazzetta dello Sport that said Bologna’s Aaron Hickey is attracting interest from Aston Villa.
It was also explained then the Premier League side have not made a serious approach to sign the left-back in the winter market.
Il Resto del Carlino have come up with a report stating Steven Gerrard’s side made an offer for the 19-year-old.
The Villans proposed €10m plus 20 percent of whatever fee they will receive from the defender’s future sale. However, this was rejected by the Serie A side and they ‘did not sit at the negotiating table’.
Siniša Mihajlović’s side could have earned €13-15m from Hickey’s sale in January, but they have decided to postpone his exit, at least until next summer.
Bologna are of the belief the Scotsman would be one of the most coveted players, along with Mattias Svanberg, after this season. Hickey has four goals from 21 league matches this campaign.
Il Resto del Carlino don’t provide a timeline on when Gerrard’s made an offer for Hickey. Villa signed Lucas Digne from Everton on January 13th and it’s likely they could have considered the Serie A man before they took the Frenchman.
