Former Paraguay international Rubén Maldonado has previously urged Napoli to sign Brighton & Hove Albion’s Julio Enciso.

Maldonado, who was at the Naples club between 2005 and 2008, has been speaking to Europa Calcio’s Calcio Time on topics related to the Serie A side. His quotes are relayed by CalcioNapoli24.

Brighton signed the 20-year-old from Paraguayan side Club Libertad in June 2022. In the same window, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia arrived at Napoli. Maldonado wanted his former club to sign his compatriot over the Georgia international.

“I recommended him to Napoli before Kvaratskhelia’s arrival. Crystal clear talent, very young, but already ready for a top club like Napoli,” he said.

Enciso managed seven goals and four assists from 30 matches in his debut season with the Seagulls. Kvaratskhelia played a key role in helping Napoli win the title during the 2022/23 season.

Maldonado continues to recommend his former club sign the Paraguay international and Inter Miami’s Diego Gómez.

The Premier League side are keen on signing the 21-year-old midfielder. Back in July, he revealed transfer talks with Brighton. Inter Miami manager Gerardo Martino is also hoping for Gómez to end up at The Amex.

Maldonado is well aware Gómez could join Brighton. Despite this, he wants Napoli to sign the midfielder and Enciso.

“I would recommend both him and Gómez, another player to be constantly monitored and close to a move to Brighton, precisely to join Enciso,” Maldonado explained.
