Pushed to one side for the vast chunk of last season, Erik Lamela’s time at Tottenham appears to have come to an end.
Even the departure of José Mourinho, appointment of Ryan Mason at interim and subsequent arrival of Nuno Espirito Santo hasn’t fixed his diminished status in the Spurs squad, meaning an exit will be needed in the very near future.
Contracted to Tottenham until 2022, the Argentine shouldn’t be too expensive for any interested club, among which can apparently be found Fiorentina.
The news comes from Gianluigi Longari, a journalist for Sport Italia, who reports the Serie A side are ready to ‘pounce’ on the playmaker, as he has become their ‘latest idea’ for this transfer window.

It’s then added that Lamela’s contractual situation ‘could favour a success’ of the deal, as there’s a chance Spurs, who will need money to give Santo the squad he wants, could want to ‘lighten themselves’ from his wages.
Perhaps the idea would be to convince Tottenham to let him go on a free, although that isn’t made clear.
Although, even if there is a fee to pay, it’s likely to be rather minimal.
