On Thursday, Calciomercato reported Lazio have already held talks with Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares’ agent over a possible deal this summer. It was also said they are expected to make contact with the Premier League side in the coming days.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio now claims the Serie A side will have a call with the Arsenal player’s agent on Wednesday, after which the representative will meet his client in Lisbon the same day.
According to Di Marzio, the 24-year-old will decide during that meeting whether to accept a move to Lazio.
The player, who spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, has a year left on his deal at the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta’s side are requesting €8-9m and also an ‘important percentage’ of the fee from a future sale, while Lazio are thinking about offering around €6-7m.
Three days ago, Tavares insisted that he wants to be at Arsenal next season. Despite this and the difference in valuation, Di Marzio claims Lazio are ‘very confident’ of getting this deal over the line.
Meanwhile, journalist Alfredo Pedullà states that Lazio have ‘total agreement’ with Arsenal to sign Tavares on a loan deal with an obligation to buy set at €7m. They need to agree a deal with the player and his agent.
Pedullà’s claim is backed up by Rudy Galetti, who says the buying obligation is set at €6m. He adds Lazio, who would like to close the deal before this weekend, are sorting out personal terms with the fullback.
