As we covered yesterday, Arsenal loanee Joel Campbell and the Sporting CP president Bruno de Carvalho are both in Costa Rica to attend to some club events.
Speaking to the local press, Campbell was asked if there was any possibility for him to stay at the Portuguese side after the end of the season, but the player replied saying no and that he’ll be returning to Arsenal, because there’s no buying option in the contract.
“We’ll see what happens to him. Until the end of the season, everything is possible. We have the loan, but everything can happen. He’s a great player, there’s no doubt about that.”
Asked about the Arsenal owned player’s lack of game time, he said: “Our manager doesn’t play with pure wingers, he prefers those who get inside. But every time Joel plays, he makes a good match.”
Portuguese newspaper Record claims that Bruno de Carvalho’s presence in Costa Rica was also useful for him to speak to Campbel’s agent Joaquim Batica about a possible summer deal with Arsenal.
Joel Campbell’s contract at Arsenal only runs until next year. His form at Sporting hasn’t been great enough for them to invest serious money, but maybe Arsene Wenger would agree to a reasonable deal.
