Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis ‘dreams’ of hiring Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto de Zerbi this summer but knows he is hard to obtain.
That’s according to Il Mattino, relayed by Area Napoli, who say the Italian side have ‘not stopped thinking about’ De Zerbi in their hunt for a new manager.
They need to find a replacement for Lucian Spalletti, who has decided to leave this summer despite winning Serie A.
He is a manager that Napoli have followed for some time, long before he turned up at Brighton in fact, and those in charge in Naples hold him in ‘high esteem’. That has only been added to by the Seagulls’ performances this season as they have ‘put on a show’.
However, it is difficult to imagine that De Zerbi will end up with the Italian club as he is more than happy at Brighton, something he has made clear on more than one occasion already.
That has led Napoli to focus on other candidates, such as Rudi Garcia or Christophe Galtier, with the latter seemingly set to leave Paris Saint Germain in the coming weeks.
They are far more likely to end up at the club than De Zerbi, news we’re sure will be more than welcomed by Brighton fans
