The owners of Serie B side Benevento have tabled an ambitious offer for Salernitana forward Massimo Coda. The 28-year-old is expected to leave the Italian club in the summer, and has again been linked with Leeds United in recent days.
Coda is unlikely to move in this transfer window because of his side’s objective to get into the play-offs, but he has a verbal agreement with owner Claudio Lotito to leave in the summer if he wishes to.
However, if Benevento fail to gain promotion it’s unlikely Coda would entertain a move as the forward is looking to take the next step in his career. Likewise, if Salernitana also fail in their bid for the top flight then it’s certain he will leave the club.
Only this week there were some claims in the Italian and English press that Leeds United had made a bid for Coda following comments from his agent. Beppe Galli informed the Italian media offers had been made for his client, but wasn’t prepared to reveal from who.
Galli had initially held talks with Leeds United in Milan during the last transfer window, but they couldn’t get a deal done before the deadline.
