According to a claim in the Turkish media, Besiktas have opened talks to sign Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud.
The Frenchman only joined the Premier League side in January from Arsenal, but the Istanbul club are keen to land him.
Fanatik today report Besiktas are in the market for a No.9 after selling Cenk Tosun to Everton in the last winter transfer window. Tosun was sold to Everton for a Super Lig transfer record, but Besiktas have failed to replace the Turkish international.
It’s claimed the club are now negotiating with Chelsea with regards to signing Giroud in the January transfer window and that the West London side could be prepared to sell for the right price.
The France international isn’t a nailed on first choice Maurizio Sarri, which the Turkish media believe, or hope, could result in Chelsea offloading the 32 year old.
With Alvaro Negredo no longer at Besiktas after the last transfer window, the Turkish side look desperate to bring in a forward and Giroud is currently flavour of the month.
This one is a long shot for Besiktas.
