Chelsea may be still to announce the signing of Deivid Washington from Santos, but the deal continues to be considered as pretty much done in Brazil.

Reports from South America say the youngster was sold to the Blues for €15m, and that seems to be creating some controversy at his club.

As reported by Globo Esporte, Rafael Leal, who was part of Santos’ management comitee, has now asked to leave.

One of the reasons why the negotiations of Deivid Washington’s move to Chelsea, as there could be ‘political reflexes’ as he was sold for less than his release clause.

The local media says the striker was protected with a €30m release clause, and that’s how much Santos were reportedly demanding at the start of the negotiations, having ended up letting him go for half of that price.

The club are currently in the league’s relegation zone, and selling important young assets at this stage is considered something quite controversial.

Deivid Washington wasn’t the only reason for Leal’s departure, but that’s one of the main ones. It’s not clear if he was involved in the talks or if he got angry at how that was done.

Chelsea are expected to announce the signing very soon. This summer, they had already signed Angelo from Santos, and loaned him out to Strasbourg.
