Ademola Lookman was for a long time the subject of a tug-of-war between Everton and RB Leipzig. He moved to the German club initially on loan in 2018, and there was frustration in Leipzig about what the Toffees were asking for their player.
Going public several times to voice their annoyance, the Bundesliga club eventually relented and paid Everton €18m for the attacker, confident he could then progress with them.
That didn’t happen, and within months of the move he was labelled a ‘flop’ by the German media, with Julien Nagelsmann publicly saying the player needed adapt better and improve his level.
Now it seems Fulham could be his next home.
Kicker report there’s no way RB Leipzig will get the €18m back this summer, with such a scenario dismissed as fantasy. Fulham would instead take the 22-year-old on loan and give him a chance to reignite his career under Scott Parker.
If it’s a choice of that or him continuing on Leipzig’s bench, and his value continuing to plummet, then a move to Fulham looks best for all those involved.
