Borussia Mönchengladbach are pushing ahead with a deal for Leeds United defender Maximilian Wöber and ‘do not want to wait’ for a transfer.
That’s according to Kicker, who say the Bundesliga side are pushing ahead with a potential transfer and aren’t waiting for Nico Elvedi to be sold first.
According to the newspaper, Gladbach are ‘close to a transfer’ for Wöber, who is likely to be the latest exit from Elland Road this summer.
A report yesterday indicated that the Leeds man was on Gladbach’s radar as they look for a replacement for Elvedi, who is being heavily linked with a move to Wolves.
The suggestion was that Wöber would be targeted once Elvedi has departed but Kicker say that is not the case.
According to them, Wöber will be signed from Leeds ‘regardless’ of what happens with Elvedi. The Colts are even waiting until Elvedi vacates the squad to make their move for the Austrian defender.
Instead ‘they take matters into their own hands’ and are planning to sign Wöber and get a commitment ‘perfect’ before dealing with the Elvedi situation.
They’re now pushing to get Wöber out of Ellan Road as the exodus at the club following their relegation last season continues.
