Estudiantes de La Plata continue to be hopeful of signing Marcos Rojo from Manchester United once again this summer.

The Argentine side had the player on a six-month loan deal this year, but due to injuries and the pandemic, he was only able to make one appearance for them.

Rojo returned to Manchester United at the end of June, and this week, reports claimed that the Red Devils plan to sell him in the current transfer window.

The story made quite some noise in the Argentine media, since Estudiantes are unlikely to afford the defender’s permanent arrival.

So according to La Plata newspaper El Dia today, the club are ‘accelerating’ their pursue for Rojo so they could get him on another loan.

They would count on the player’s wish, since he’s becoming a father soon and would like to stay close to his family in his home town.

El Dia makes it clear that Estudiantes have no condition of paying the ‘nearly US$15m’ demanded by Manchester United for Rojo’s transfer, but that won’t mean the club will give up on the chase.
