Earlier this week, a rather surprising rumour emerged in England stating that Arsenal were interested in Borja Mayoral, currently starring at Getafe.
It make big headlines in Spain, since this would be a big move for the striker, heading to a club fighting for trophies in England.
However, AS on Friday come in and reveal that Getafe aren’t interested in letting their player go, even if Arsenal were indeed to make an offer.
In fact, the La Liga side have ‘no intention whatsoever’ to sell the player this January, and ‘will not listen’ to anything anyone has to say on the matter.
Furthermore, there is a reason for Mayoral to stay away from Arsenal, which is his desire to play in the Euros with Spain.
He is comfortable at Getafe, and while a move to the Gunners could be enticing, he would have to switch countries, adapt to a new team and style of football, which could hinder his form in the coming months at a crucial time for his ambitions.
Therefore, Mayoral appears to be staying put.
