AC Milan could shift their focus back to Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech and this would come as a welcome boost to Leeds United in their pursuit of Charles De Ketelaere.

The Whites are willing to meet Club Brugge’s demands for the forward, while the Serie A winners are not ready to offer more than €30m [plus €2m].

This could see Milan move away from the Leeds target and try to take the Chelsea man instead, according to Calciomercato.

It’s explained the Rossoneri met the Blues yesterday to get an update on the Moroccan, who isn’t included in Thomas Tuchel’s plans.

Although the ex-Ajax star is not viewed as an alternative De Ketelaere from a tactical point of view, he could represent the drastic change in the strategy employed by Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara.

Milan’s initial plan was to take Ziyech on loan with a right of redemption and they could now change it to an expensive loan operation with obligation to buy in 2023.

This will leave the Italian champions with resources to bolster other positions like defence and the middle of the pitch. At the same time, it will also please Jesse Marsch’s side to try to sign the Belgium international.

The distance in valuation between Milan and Club Brugge for De Ketelaere will be more good news for Leeds. The Whites will still have to convince the 21-year-old if they want to close his signing.
