Porto may find themselves forced to sell Manchester United target Diogo Costa in the summer.
According to Portuguese newspaper Record, if the Dragons want to make purchases in the next transfer window, they must make at least €50m with sales first.
And looking at their squad, the player who could ‘immediately’ give the club that profit is Diogo Costa, who’s highly rated in the market and protected by a €75m release clause.
It’s said Porto could make a record sale with the goalkeeper, as their biggest departure ever was when Eder Militão left for Real Madrid for €50m.
Record says Costa’s agent Jorge Mendes now has this ‘dossier’ in his hands, and speaking of potential destinations for the goalkeeper, they name Manchester United.
It’s said that reports from the English media have been claiming the Red Devils follow the 23-year-old, especially because he has abilities with his feet which are appreciated by Erik ten Hag.
But the truth is that stories from the Portuguese press have also been talking about Manchester United’s interest in Costa for over a year now, besides all the reports about the Premier League side scouting Porto games throughout the season.
So with the Dragons ready to sell, we’ll have to see if the Red Devils are that convinced to go for a replacement for David De Gea.
