Real Betis have made ‘significant progress’ in their efforts to sign Diego Llorente from Leeds United this summer and hope to seal the deal for him within days.
That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who report that the Leeds man is the main target for the Spanish side to reinforce their defence following the departures of Sokratis and Chadi Riad.
The newspaper reports that the Spanish team have made ‘significant progress’ in the negotiations with Leeds over the last few days to sign the 30-year-old centre-back.
Their hope is that a deal can be struck in the next few days so that Llorente can be a part of Manuel Pellegrini’s squad for the start of pre-season on Monday July 8th.
Betis value the defender highly thanks to his versatility and his signing has been approved by those in charge of the Spanish club.
They’ve done extensive research on him and value a number of his attributes, even going back to analyse his time at Real Sociedad, the club he played for before joining Leeds in September 2020.
They’ve clearly been impressed and are now pushing forward to get him, hoping to seal a deal in the next couple of days so he is officially part of the squad for the start of pre-season next week.
