Girona have made concrete efforts to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Bryan Gil, according to multiple claims from Spain.
They have qualified for the Champions League, and are working to carry out more signings needed to have the depth to play in that competition.
Monday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo says the La Liga side are focusing on the Tottenham winger and Real Betis’ Abde Ezzalzouli to bolster their attack.
It’s claimed the Spanish club have ‘reached an agreement’ with Spurs to sign the 23-year-old on loan, and will now focus on Ezzalzouli.
If there are no last-minute surprises, Gil should be Girona’s sixth signing of this window. He will arrive on loan with an option to buy. The newspaper states that prior to securing his exit, the former Sevilla man will sign a new contract at the north London club.
Ange Postecoglou has left Gil out of his plans and he subsequently received several offers to leave the Premier League side. The player wants to join Girona, which this was vital during their negotiations with Tottenham.
Mundo claim the attacker is ‘one step away’ from fulfilling his wish of joining Girona.
Monday’s edition of AS says Girona have ‘practically closed’ an agreement with Tottenham and Gill’s signing should be announced today.
Spurs trimming the squad down allows them to bring further players in this summer.
