Manchester United’s interest in Torino’s Andrea Belotti is covered by Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday. The Italian forward has been in top form for his club and country this season, and that has caught the eye of onlookers.
A few days ago, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Torino are keen on extending his contract, but explained a new deal would have a release clause of more than €50m for foreign clubs.
Now Gazzetta say Torino’s president Urban Cairo is close to negotiating a release clause of €94m in Belotti’s contract.
Belotti’s agent, Sergio Lancini, is scheduled to meet Torino this week over the possibility of renewing his contract, but Gazzetta say everything is already agreed in principle. Belotti will sign a contract until 2021, which will see him earning €1.5m/season.
Cairo has confirmed that the Turin club have been negotiating a contract renewal with Belotti, and that there will be a ‘provision’ for foreign clubs.
He said: “We’re speaking to extend his contract and give him an award, there may be a provision for foreign clubs.
“But I didn’t call anybody and we do not even think of selling him. But how much is he worth? For me that is a very high provision, like that of Higuain. I don’t know if there will be some clubs that will get him.”
Gazzetta reiterate Manchester United’s interest in the 22-year-old, and say Jose Mourinho’s team are the real danger.
It’s reported Manchester United are closely monitoring Belotti, but it remains to be seen if the Premier League giants would want to pay such a high transfer fee for a player who has still so much to prove.
