Seen as one of Lille’s targets to fill the gaping hole that will be left by Nicolas Pépé’s impending sale, Watford’s Dodi Lukebakio is still waiting for something to happen this summer.
Wanting European football, the Belgium U21 international certainly wouldn’t say no to filling the Ivorian’s boots in the north of France, and Le10 Sport believe the Ligue 1 club have made the first step.
The website claim Lille have come forward with a €12m offer for Lukebakio, which wasn’t accepted by Watford.
The Hornets are reportedly also talking with Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund for the former Charleroi starlet, but there has been no claims of either of those two clubs coming forward like the French side have.
Considering the season Lukebakio had at Fortuna Düsseldorf on loan from the Hornets, €12m was always going to be too low and the likelihood is Lille will come back with an improved offer down the line if they really want to sign the Belgian.
The 21-year-old scored ten goals and assisted teammates four times in 31 Bundesliga appearances last year, including a hat trick against Bayern Munich.
