Atalanta expect to close a deal with Birmingham City in the next few days for midfielder Jordan James to join the Serie A side.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who cover the impending transfer today as well as profile the Welsh midfielder.
Reports earlier today indicated that Atalanta had made their move for James, with a confidence all round that they could get a deal done sooner rather than later.
Gazzetta now back that up, reporting that next week there will be a ‘decisive push’ from the Italian side, who expect to close a deal with Birmingham in the next few days.
Atalanta are hoping to take advantage of Birmingham’s troubles this season and are counting on the support of the player, who is ‘obviously intrigued’ by the idea of playing in Serie A and the Europa League, to convince the Blues to accept their offer, which is currently a League, to convince the Blues to accept their offer, which is currently €5m plus bonuses.
They’re pushing to sign James as their scouting department were ‘convinced’ by the midfielder when watching him, believing he has all the characteristics to complement their current squad nicely.
They feel he ‘guarantees aggression and dynamism’ when recovering the ball but also his ability to get forward, get goals and create them too.
Indeed, they believe he is a combination of what they already have, and the plan is to even integrate him quickly and let other players head out on loan, such is their confidence.
First, they need to get a deal done, though, and the foot is on the accelerator to make that happen and convince Birmingham to sanction his departure.
