AS Roma have identified Watford’s Ismaël Koné as one of their targets for the summer window.
That’s according to Saturday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport, who say the Serie A side like the 21-year-old.
Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi is focusing on changing his side’s attack and also strengthening their midfield next season.
The Giallorossi are keen on signing Lille’s Jonathan David and have made contact with his agent, who also manages the Watford player.
For midfield, Corriere say Roma want a player ‘capable of suddenly subverting the balance of a match’. Daniele De Rossi and his staff have been looking at the international market and one of the targets identified is the Watford midfielder.
It’s claimed Roma have already talked with the agents about a move for Koné, taking advantage of their chats regarding David.
Watford finished 15th in the Championship and despite what Corriere dello Sport describe as a poor season, the report says Koné has ‘made himself appreciated’ with his performances. He’s clocked in 2,800 minutes from 46 games for the Hornets.
The Canadian midfielder’s profile ‘fully represents the needs’ of Roma, but the report says it’s not given that De Rossi’s side will decide to bet on him in the next window.
