Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Fábio Silva has been on loan at PSV Eindhoven since the winter market and has impressed for them this year, helping them win the KNVB Cup on April 30th.
A month ago, the forward admitted he would like to continue at the Eredivisie side beyond this season. Last weekend, PSV manager Ruud van Nistelrooy expressed his desire to keep the 20-year-old for next season.
Eindhovens Dagblad, relayed by Voetbal Zone, now states the Dutch club ‘want to complete’ a deal for the Wolves owned player, who is greatly appreciated by Van Nistelrooy.
PSV would like the Portugal U21 international to continue at the club either on a loan deal or through a permanent transfer. They presented both these formulas to Julen Lopetegui’s side.
It’s said the Dutch club have ‘made a serious attempt’ to retain the attacker recently, but were unable to strike a deal with Wolves, who ‘refused to negotiate’ during the season. ED add the Premier League side are not interested in selling Silva in the summer.
Wolves’ stance isn’t the only factor that wouldn’t make it easy for PSV to retain Silva. The report adds clubs in Italy, Spain, England and Turkey have registered their interest in the player.
