Once an integral cog of the Newcastle United squad, Jamaal Lascelles had fallen a bit to the wayside since Eddie Howe took over and the Saudi money came in.

The 30-year-old has played a bit more this season because of injuries to the defence, but that doesn’t mean he is part of their long-term plans.

In fact, a club are already trying to take advantage of his situation at Newcastle United, since his contract expires at the end of the season, and that’s Besiktas, as reported by Yağız Sabuncuoğlu.

He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to explain that the Turkish side have ‘made an official offer’ for Lascelles.

There’s no indication as of yet as to what this is, but considering his deal at Newcastle is up in six months, it is unlikely to be a loan, meaning just a bit of money sent over to St James’ Park as compensation for an early transfer.

Now, considering the lack of depth in the Magpies’ defence, it remains to be seen whether this is something Eddie Howe will want to approve, knowing that he will likely need a replacement before the end of the month.
