Club Brugge have submitted an offer to sign Sheffield United’s Sander Berge this summer.
That’s according to TV2 in Norway, who explain the Jupiler Pro League winners have made the midfielder their priority target.
Club Brugge are willing to pay a total package of around NOK 200m [~ €20m] to Sheffield United to secure the 24-year-old’s services. If the deal goes through, Berge will be the most expensive signing made by a Belgian club so far.
TV2 got in touch with several sources from Club Brugge, but they refused to comment on the ongoing negotiations for the Norway international.
Although Sheffield United have not accepted the offer, there is a clear indication Berge’s case is about to heat up. The report also states Paul Heckingbottom’s man has attracted concrete interest from Premier League sides.
A return to Belgium for the ex-Genk man will allow him to play in the Champions League and compete for titles. These factors could be more interesting for Berge to pick Club Brugge.
It’ll be interesting to see what Berge decides, if Sheffield United open the door for him to make a move elsewhere in the ongoing window.
