Genoa have been watching Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke ‘for a long time’, who has struggled to get minutes this season under Brendan Rodgers.
That’s according to Genova Today, relaying information from Il Secolo XIX, who cover the ongoing search at the Italian club to replace Radu Dragusin.
The explain that the choice on who should replace the defender, who joined Tottenham earlier in the window, is not a small one for Genoa and they are taking their time on it.
They had looked at Leo Østigård at Napoli but the wall around him remained high and a deal was unlikely, with the player also seemingly now on his way elsewhere.
That’s led Genoa to look elsewhere, and they could fish abroad, specifically at Celtic, where they have a longstanding interest in Gustaf Lagerbielke.
They’ve been monitoring the defender ‘for a long time’ and has been finding playing time under Brendan Rodgers hard to come by this season, meaning a deal could be within Genoa’s grasp.
There’s no indication they’ve made a move as yet, but they do have the money to do so given the sale of Dragusin to Tottenham.
Whether they use that to get Lagerbielke out of Celtic remains to be seen but the interest is there, nonetheless.
