In July 2020, Lille managed to convince Napoli to agree to a deal potentially worth €80m for Victor Osimhen.
Lille had played similar games before, with leaks about other clubs, including Tottenham, being ready to snatch the deal from the Italians. Pressure built on Napoli and in the end they caved in and paid more than they’d wanted to.
The first half of last season was something of a disaster for the attacker, hit by injury, and then he came better in the second half of the campaign. Over the full season, and all 30 matches played, he scored ten goals and added three assists.
Now Spurs are being linked again, and Sunday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport says ‘Tottenham interest worries’ Napoli. The stance is Spurs would be concerned about losing Harry Kane, and Osimhen is an option to replace him.
Napoli now want to give their player a new contract and put a release clause in of more than €100m.
There’s not much more shared on Tottenham interest, just that the 22-year-old is an option for Spurs, and that’s given Napoli a kick up the behind with regards to a renewal.
