Earlier this week, we covered how the situation of Boulaye Dia had become untenable at Salernitana, all stemming from the Serie A side’s decision to turn down a bid from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wolves made their offer at the last minute during the summer transfer window, and with it being a loan with a view to buy, the Italians were offended by the audacity, and made it clear they were not going to accept it.
That didn’t sit well with Dia, who is now persona non grata at the club, to the point where he will no longer play until June, and Calciomercato.it look at what the future holds for him after the whole Wolves debacle.
A series of events, which are detailed in a previous article we covered, has led to him being pushed to one side by the club, who now have to find a way of getting rid of him.
Whether Wolves would still want him next summer remains to be seen, but what is certain is that he will no longer bring in the huge amount of money Salernitana wanted at the time.
Once hoping to get a minimum of €30m for their star, the current season and events have caused his value to ‘drastically drop’, and they now run the risk of selling him for a figure ‘lower than imagined’ last year.
At this point, there might be some over at Salernitana who could be regretting the decision to turn down what Wolves offered, but, then again, no one can predict the future.
