Former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta has urged the club to make a move for West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca this summer.
The Milan icon has been speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport about his former club and where he would spend their money this summer.
The Italian side are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window after a disappointing campaign in which they’ve failed to challenge Napoli at the top of Serie A and were knocked out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage by rivals Inter Milan.
The growing belief is that they will target a new, star centre-forward for their squad, with them currently lacking in that area as neither Charles de Ketelaere nor Divock Origi, who were signed in the summer, have worked out so far.
Scamacca could be a potential option as he’s been linked with a return to Italy at the end of the season following a disappointing year at West Ham after his big move last summer.
Costacurta would certainly back that idea, urging the club to spend their money on the West Ham or Benjamin Sesko.
“If there was the budget for one big purchase, I would use it for a striker,” he said.
“I would take someone like Scamacca, Milan could be the right environment. Another player I like is Sesko, the 2003 Salzburg player. A bit inconsistent, but young and strong.”
