Atlético Madrid are hoping that Renan Lodi can begin to convince at Nottingham Forest, in the hope they’ll pay the €30m clause in his loan deal.
AS explain that the Spanish side have ‘got themselves into trouble’ after being knocked out of the Champions League group stages.
That failure, plus missing out on the Europa League, means the club needs to fill a ‘hole’ of €30m in their finances and they are eyeing up sales from the current squad.
They ‘will listen to winter offers’ if they arrive but they are also hoping that the players out on loan can convince as well.
Lodi is one of those, having joined Nottingham Forest in the summer for regular playing time ahead of the World Cup.
That deal includes a €30m purchase clause, which Atlético are hoping he can convince the Tricky Trees to pay as it would fill the void nicely.
The problem, though, is that he is ‘not showing a great performance’ in Steve Cooper’s side so the likelihood that they will ‘leave money’ with the Spanish side for him is currently low.
Atlético Madrid are hoping that changes as they don’t need the player but do desperately need the money from Nottingham Forest if they wish to sign him permanently.
