Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has refused to be drawn on a permanent move for West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd this summer.
Noticias de Gipuzkoa have an interview with the Real Sociedad chief today in which he discusses the current squad, their struggles this season and potential future transfers.
The focus is currently on Aguerd, who has proven to be a key player for the Spanish side this season after arriving on a season-long loan deal from West Ham.
He’s been a regular this season, with 20 appearances in La Liga to date and another 11 in the Europa League as well.
Most would like to see the 29-year-old signed on a permanent basis, although his current loan deal does not include an option for Real Sociedad to do so.
West Ham are likely to be open to doing a deal as Aguerd was not a part of their plans when he left and is entering the final two years of his deal at the London Stadium.
Aperribay has refused to be drawn on the prospect, though, insisting that they’re yet to talk about any transfer.
“We’ll see. We’re not in that conversation yet. We haven’t spoken. We’ll see if he can stay or not,” he said when asked about the idea.
There’s a big hint there that they want to keep him, but there’s no certainty over whether it’s possible.
