With Ivan Ilic returning to Manchester City following a loan at Hellas Verona, it had always been a rumour in the Italian press that the Serie A side will try to keep the player for longer.

However, as outlet Torino Granata explains the situation today, it’s said the deal could get a little difficult, and some local competition could join the race for the midfielder.

The website writes that another loan would be ‘complicated’ for Hellas Verona, due to the appreciation he had from manager Ivan Juric last season, who has since taken over at Torino.

That’s why the Turin club could show up in the race, and while it’s said Ilic isn’t a priority for the Turin side, it could be that following the transfer business they have on their agenda, the player ‘won’t leave the radar’.

It’s said that should Ilic stays ‘on standby’ at Manchester City, then Torino could have a thought about his signing this summer.

The 20-year-old has a contract with Manchester City running until 2022, so this should be a crucial time for the club to decide what to do with him.

Last season, he settled in well at Hellas Verona, making 30 appearances.
