Pretty much all summer, there has been talk of a potential return to Tottenham for Clément Lenglet after he spent last season on loan in London.

Barcelona and Spurs have been in talks for quite some time over this, and the bottom line was that the Premier League side didn’t want to pay a huge fee for him.

Sport have the latest on the situation amid interest from Saudi Arabia, which the La Liga side would prefer, since they are offering them more money.

The headline is quite clear, and it says that Barcelona ‘fear’ that Lenglet is ‘waiting’ for Tottenham to make their move for him.

This comes after the defender ‘would have almost definitively ruled out’ the move to Saudi Arabia, where Al-Nassr want to sign him.

The stance from Lenglet is making Barcelona think that he ‘fully prioritises’ a return to Tottenham, despite them making it clear that ‘they do not want to pay for a transfer’.

All this is blocking the club’s transfer plans, because they need to get Lenglet’s wages off the bill so they can register other incomings.

Therefore, they are ‘in a hurry’, while Lenglet, were he to go to Tottenham, would end up leaving in ‘the last days of the market’.

In the meantime, he is training with the first-team, but ‘he is clear that he wants to choose his own destiny’.
