Real Betis are still ‘working’ on a deal for Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca but are facing multiple ‘obstacles’ stopping a deal from happening.

That’s according to Marca, who say the Spanish side are still some way from agreeing a deal to sign the Leeds man.

Roca joined the Whites last summer in something of a surprise deal and was a key player this season, impressing despite their relegation to the Championship.

He’s now expected to leave following that relegation and a return to Spain looks likely, with Betis keen as they eye a replacement for William Carvalho, who they are hoping to move on.

Marca confirm as much, stating that those in charge at the club are ‘working on’ a deal for Roca, who is one of the players ‘high on the list of targets’ that they’re looking at.

They believe the player is a ‘market opportunity’ after Leeds were relegated but there are ‘obstacles’ blocking a quick agreement.

The first of those his high fee, with Betis unable to match the wages he earns at Elland Road thanks to La Liga’s wage cap.

There is also high competition for him and Betis’ desire to include an option to buy him for a ‘reasonable amount’, something it seems Leeds are yet to agree on.
