Sometimes transfers don’t work out, and one man who can testify to that is Stoke City’s Gianelli Imbula.
The midfielder is the Potters record signing, with them paying £21m to sign him from Porto back in 2015.
His time at the club has not been a happy one as he’s not only failed to live up to his price tag but also put up any positive performances.
He’s spent the last two seasons out on loan and recently made it clear that he wants to leave the bet365, saying the whole move was a ‘mistake’.
He may now get that opportunity, with Het Laatste Nieuws reporting that Club Brugge could be about to offer him an escape route.
The Belgian side are looking to add a midfielder to their squad before the end of the transfer window.
They need to replace Marvelous Nakamba after he made a £10m move to Aston Villa this summer and Imbula is on their list.
HLN don’t say what sort of price Brugge would be looking to pay for Imbula, or whether there has been any contact with Stoke about a potential move.
However, given that he’s not exactly happy at the club and they’re hardly enamoured with him either, it seems unlikely there would be any resistance from anywhere should Brugge try to get a deal done.
