The Belgian media today reveals Standard Liege’s interest in Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo.
The chase is revealed by DH, who claims that club director Fergal Harkin is engaged in a mission to get a centre-back signed this month.
Panzo already had some experience playing in the Belgian league, as back in 2019/20, long before joining Nottingham Forest, he spent a season at Cercle Brugge.
DH now writes that the defender has ‘rarely played’ lately, with only 170 minutes on the pitch this season, and that’s why Standard Liege could be a solution for him.
It’s said the Belgian club could sign him on a loan with an option to buy, even though there are no concrete offers made for now.
Panzo had spent the first part of the season on a loan at Cardiff City, where he had that playing time. Since returning to Nottingham Forest this month, he hasn’t been picked by coach Nuno Espírito Santo.
It should then be down to the manager to decide whether he should be kept as an option or go out to have some minutes, but this could be the perfect opportunity for him to get time on the pitch.
