Chelsea will need €37m if they wish to sign PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré in the summer, after attempting to get him last year.
That’s according to Eindhovens Dagblad, who cover the player today and how PSV ‘expect to say goodbye’ to him at the end of the season.
The newspaper, relayed by Twente Inside, explains that PSV are already lining up a replacement for Sangaré, and Zerrouki is one of the names on their list.
The expectation is that Sangaré will be on his way sooner rather than later, particularly as he has a clause in his contract stating that he can leave for €37m. They expect that to be met by someone, particularly after the interest shown in the midfielder last summer.
He reportedly had several Premier League clubs chasing his signature but none more so than Chelsea, who made a bid late for him in the window but saw it rejected.
They’ve since signed Enzo Fernandez from Benfica but their spending isn’t expected to be halted in the summer, particularly as N’Golo Kante’s contract expires and Denis Zakaria is not expected to be kept on after his loan deal ends.
That could open up a need for Sangaré, who PSV are expecting to depart and for a fee lower than what Chelsea were willing to pay last year.
