It seemed like a distant dream at first, but Sporting are now really working to sign Lucas Perez from Arsenal.

As reported by newspaper A Bola today, the Lisbon side are doing their best to improve their offer for the Spanish striker.

The outlet had already claimed that the clubs had found an agreement in principle for the loan of the 29-year-old. Now they have some more details about it.

Perez would spend a year at Sporting, with the Lions having the right to buy him at the end of the season. Arsenal were demanding €5m at first, but will now accept less.

A Bola also claims that Perez’s salary, which was said to be of €3.5m per season, isn’t that high, but is still more than €3m.

Sporting can’t afford that much, and that’s why they count on Arsenal for a ‘partnership’ so the Gunners can pay for part of it.

Sporting can pay up to €2m per season, but are now considering to raise these numbers, and that’s where A Bola’s headline comes from.

There’s also some concern that Perez won’t be easy to convince, so there’s a lot to work to do before this negotiation reaches the advanced stages.
