Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld is a dream signing for Club Brugge this summer but is delaying a decision on his future.
That’s according to Voetbal 24, who say Alderweireld wants to see who is named as Tottenham’s next manager before deciding what to do.
The website explains that Brugge are keen to invest in the squad this summer, and those in charge, Bart Verhaeghe and Vincent Mannaert want to make a ‘big splash’ on the transfer market.
They are chiefly aiming for Belgian players, and two that they have identified are Toby Alderweireld and Nacer Chadli.
At Jan Breydel, they are ‘dreaming’ of signing the pair but whether that is actually ‘feasible’ is not yet clear at this moment in time.
Alderweireld has been linked with a move away from Tottenham for several months, and Brugge have regularly been a part of those discussions.
Indeed last month, it was stated that he had told them he wasn’t interested in a move at this moment in time, but it appears they have not given up yet.
Voetbal 24 say that he would like to return and play closer to home at some point but is waiting to see who the next Tottenham manager will be before deciding on his future.
That decision could take a while, given how the options have been shortening since Mourinho departed, so it seems Alderweireld’s future may be up in the air until the new man arrives as well.
