As Everton and West Ham United continue to get linked to Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia, his price is discussed in the Italian media.
Club chief Danilo Iervolino was interviewed by Radio Rai’s La Politica Nel Ballo on Monday (via Calcio, ercato), and talked about the summer subjects concerning the Serie A side.
The Salernitana president was then asked about the price for Dia, as the likes of Everton and West Ham have been pointed out as potential destinations for him.
According to Iervolino, the centre forward could leave for less than he’s actually worth, since his release clause makes him a bargain.
“To date, we have a €25m clause for Dia which doesn’t reflect the value of the player which could be at least €40m. Unfortunately, there are many teams interested, the player would like to stay in Salerno, we’ll see on 20 July when the clause expires what will happen. We hope he’ll stay here. We strongly wanted him, and it would be important for us to be able to keep him”.
A couple of weeks ago, reports from the Italian media had been claiming that Everton and West Ham are among the clubs who’ve been sending ‘strong signals’ to get Dia signed this summer.
The problem is that they aren’t alone in the race, since the likes of Fiorentina, Napoli, Lazio and Inter Milan are all said to be interested in him as well.
With Salernitana believing that amount is cheap, we’ll see how long it takes until one of those clubs put the €25m on the table.
