Having lost Tammy Abraham to a knee injury until the end of the calendar year, AS Roma are looking around the market for some sort of replacement.
One of the areas where they could get a good deal is in the Championship, where newly relegated Leicester City have a couple of players that has tickled their fancy.
This comes courtesy of Gazzetta dello Sport, who published an article on their website on Monday revealing that two new names have appeared on Tiago Pinto’s wishlist.
Already probing both Kelechi Iheanacho and Patson Daka ‘in recent years’, the Portuguese director ‘will try again’, this time hoping for better success.
Both Pinto and CEO Lina Souloukoi flew to London on Monday morning for some transfer business involving Leeds, but are also trying to ‘understand the margins for negotiation’ for the two Leicester players.
While Roma would ideally want Gianluca Scamacca, West Ham are being tough to deal with, and that’s why they have turned their attention to the Foxes pair.
Iheanacho’s contract expires in 2024, and that is a ‘favourable conditions’, but Gazzetta do make it clear that no ‘negotiations have begun’ for the Nigeria international.
As for his Leicester teammate, he is an ‘old passion of Pinto’s, and that’s what makes him ‘tempting above all’.
It’s added that ‘the idea of a change of scenery and avoiding an experience in the Championship’ isn’t something the Zambian minds, and that’s why, ‘in the next few hours’, Roma could be able to ‘understand the margins’ of a possible negotiation.
