West Ham United’s Arthur Masuaku has been on loan at Beşiktaş since last summer. The Turkish club retain an option to buy, which becomes an obligation if he makes a certain number of appearances this season.
On Monday, Beşiktaş manager Şenol Güneş confirmed about the clause. He also stressed the left-back’s loan deal hasn’t been made permanent amid claims stating otherwise.
TRT Haber have a report on the West Ham owned player, titled: ‘Masuaku uncertainty continues at Beşiktaş’.
He’s featured 25 times in the league, which includes one substitute appearance. The DR Congo international has an opportunity to feature for more than 45 minutes against Trabzonspor on Sunday. Güneş has a decision to make about Masuaku later this weekend.
If his stay is made permanent, the Black Eagles will have to pay €2.2m to West Ham, to be paid in four instalments. They will also have to offer the player a deal worth €1.3m per year.
It’s claimed Beşiktaş ‘continue transfer negotiations’ with the Hammers, with the aim to ‘lower’ the amount. There’s no mention about West Ham’s stance on lowering the fee, although considering it’s already quite low, we can’t see them being best pleased at the idea.
Down their end, Beşiktaş have a desire to keep Masuaku and this was confirmed by their chairman, Ahmet Nur Çebi.
“We want to continue with Masuaku, but everything doesn’t go as you planned,” he said.
