With AC Milan on the verge of selling Sandro Tonali to Newcastle, the Serie A side are about to get some money to spend on the transfer market.
Needing a new striker, the club have turned their attention to a very unexpected target, according to Gazzetta dello Sport: Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku.
Yes, that’s the same player who has spent two of the last three years at Inter Milan, but that hasn’t stopped the city rivals to consider it.
Gazzetta explain that with Lukaku set to return to Chelsea officially in eight days and Inter unable to afford a permanent transfer, a door has opened for the Rossoneri.
The club are ‘thinking of a sensational double blow’ for the Belgium international and Davide Frattesi to bolster their team, with the idea of negotiating a permanent transfer for the striker.
As for how much he would cost after Chelsea spent €109m on him, the claim is he would cost ‘less than you think’.
The Blues won’t ask for anything close what they paid for, and the belief is they could ‘accept an offer of around €40m’ for him.
What remains to be seen is how attracted to the move Lukaku is, such is his love for Inter.
Then again, that hasn’t stopped other players, like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, from playing for both in their careers.
