On Wednesday evening, it was reported that Tottenham had reached an agreement with Torino for the loan of Japhet Tanganga.

The defender, who doesn’t have a space in Ange Postecoglou’s plans at Spurs, is seeking more game time, with the deal also including an option to buy.

It was explained Tottenham’s Tanganga chose to leave the Premier League for an experience abroad despite having the chance to stay in England, and the latest news from Turkey, courtesy of Gökmen Özcan, suggests he might have a late choice to make.

That’s because Besiktas, also in search of a new defender after their inability to secure the transfer of the likes of Eric Bailly, have added Tanganga on their list late in the transfer window.

It’s not quite as late for them as it is for other clubs, however, since their transfer window closes on September 15th compared to September 1st for the other main leagues, but it does cause a problem for Torino if they become a more attractive destination for the Tottenham player.

The journalist explains that, as the Serie A discovered, Spurs are ‘open to loaning the player with an option to buy’, and it’s pointed out there is competition from Italy and Spain for his services.

Something to keep an eye on as we approach the end of the transfer window in England and Italy.
