Marseille are close to agreeing personal terms with Eddie Nketiah but remain unconvinced Arsenal will actually sell him.
That’s according to La Provence, who report that while the French side are prioritising Nketiah as a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, it may not be possible to get a deal done quickly.
According to their information, Marseille see Nketiah as someone who could immediately go into the team and become the starting striker.
They’ve already made moves to get the Arsenal man on board and are close to agreeing personal terms with him, believing the striker is keen on the move and the project under Roberto de Zerbi.
However, there is a clear divide between their valuation of the player and Arsenal’s at this moment in time.
They add that there is also a lingering doubt that Arsenal are not fully committed to selling Nketiah this summer, even though previous reports, including their own, have indicated that Marseille are optimistic that they can work out an agreement eventually.
Perhaps that optimism is borne out of the fact Nketiah has shown an interest and is now close to agreeing terms, something Marseille could use to their advantage to sway Arsenal’s thinking.
